In an effort to better serve our community we obviously cannot neglect the individuals that are in Hempstead County Detention Center (HCCC), considering that our Outreach Center was designed to aid them in their reentry into the community. We are currently working together with the HCCC staff and officers to lead a strong jail ministry involving multiple faiths.
We now have over 40 approved individuals actively doing ministry within the Detention Center, but there is so much more that we can do. This is purely a community effort, no one congregation, or one denomination is doing this alone. So far we have members and pastors from multiple churches reaching into the jail to break the chains of addiction, affliction, and bondage to generational oppression. Only together can we change the hearts and minds of not only the inmates, but law enforcement, and the community in large. Those incarcerated at HCCC, no matter how broken, now matter what they have done, are made in the image of God, just like us, and they deserve the chance to receive the Gospel, repent from their ways, and begin new lives as fully forgiven, fully saved, children of the Living God. |
