In an effort to better serve our community we obviously cannot neglect the individuals that are in Hempstead County Detention Center (HCCC), considering that our Outreach Center was designed to aid them in their reentry into the community. We are currently working together with the HCCC staff and officers to lead a strong jail ministry involving multiple faiths. 

We now have over 40 approved individuals actively doing ministry within the Detention Center, but there is so much more that we can do. This is purely a community effort, no one congregation, or one denomination is doing this alone. So far we have members and pastors from multiple churches reaching into the jail to break the chains of addiction, affliction, and bondage to generational oppression. Only together can we change the hearts and minds of not only the inmates, but law enforcement, and the community in large. 

Those incarcerated at HCCC, no matter how broken, now matter what they have done, are made in the image of God, just like us, and they deserve the chance to receive the Gospel, repent from their ways, and begin new lives as fully forgiven, fully saved, children of the Living God.

Ways You Can Help

• Pray For the Sojourners ~ each week we collect the prayer requests that the inmates of Hempstead County have written and share them with the community to be prayed for. (We remove full names and identifying information for their protection)
• Join the Spiritual Support Team ~ Lead or co-lead a study, or chapel service in the facility. (please contact Chaplain Adam for more information, volunteers must be vetted and approved before they can enter the jail) 
  • All Volunteers must be connected to an organization that provides oversite. If leading a Bible Study, a congregation, if an addiction group, NA / AA or similar, must have approval from oversite body, counselors, psychologists, and others must maintain their own licensure. 
• Donate Bibles or religious texts and materials to be distributed by the Religious Support Team. (Paperback only, no staples preferred)
• Donate Snacks & drinks for the Bible Studies (drop off at the Outreach Center 401 S Washington, Hope, AR 71801)
• Write letters to Sojourners. 
• Have other ideas, please drop by the Outreach or send us an email!

Support Files for the Spiritual Support Team

Steps to be a member of the Spiritual Support Team (Chaplaincy Volunteer). 

1. Read and complete the appropriate MOU (Memorandum of Understanding).
2. Get approval from your organization oversite (pastor's, leadership committees, directors of org's etc.)
3. Call and interview with Senior Chaplain (turn in MOU). 
4. Have Pic taken for ID.
5. Go to Booking at HCCC to get fingerprinted and background check.
6. Wait for approval from senior chaplain and schedule service times.
